Voter’s experience!

Voter’s experience!

The most widespread topic in India right now is
1.scintillating victory of world cup and
2.Of course ,the  important Anna Hazare’s Lok pal Bill

But, at the peak of election fever I could hear about one thing very repeatedly amidst the loud screaming voice of the politicians is about the 49-O. Its definitely not the voice of politicians but THE PEOPLE who are frustrated about the entire political drama which is been happening for several decades in India.

Well, Even me as an honest  citizen wanted a desperate change in the country. I decided to choose 49-O as I  consciously wanted to vote for the prosperity of the society this time and I wanted to know more about the Rule

What is 49-0 ??

As per wiki,

49-O. Elector deciding not to vote.-If an elector, after his electoral roll number has been duly entered in the register of voters in Form-17A and has put his signature or thumb impression thereon as required under sub-rule (1) of rule 49L, decided not to record his vote, a remark to this effect shall be made against the said entry in Form 17A by the presiding officer and the signature or thumb impression of the elector shall be obtained against such remark.

What Should I do?

All I have to do is to inform the president of the poll about my disinterest in voting and he will provide the form wherein I have to sign and my vote is considered to be registered.

The Actual Scenario”

As soon as I reached the polling booth, I got the first shock! There wasn’t a single poster which carried information about 49-O.Hesitantly I went to the polling booth’s president and asked about the procedure and there comes my second shock! Mr. President didn’t have any forms or register to my non-vote!!

I had no other option except to vote someone to exercise my voting rights who is gonna do nothing good for the society and suck all the sweat and blood of the lame man. My index finger shows a sign of black mark which is gonna continue for the next 5 years or more ;)

Hope the EVM had an option “ none of the above” the most convenient  answer right from school days!
